Video: No prizes for guessing why this Aussie condom ad was banned from TV

If ‘sex sells’ then this advert is going to sell condoms by the truckload… Warning: the video is a tad NSFW...

A big problem for people in the condom world is the fact that they can’t show their product in action on TV. However, that didn’t stop one Aussie condom company, whose ‘banned from TV’ advert has recently become a viral success.

The company in question is Four Seasons Condoms and their advert features a young naked couple trying on various condom sizes in a chemist.

The ad comes from a series of short clips, which have been written and directed by the Australian comedian Gary Eck. According to marketingmag.com, the ads are based around the sexual adventures of characters, ‘Raquel and Tyson’.

“The idea behind the ad was to make buying condoms like buying a pair of shoes. If you’re not sure of your size, well, just try one on. Have sex. Make sure it’s fits perfectly. Naked Condoms come in four sizes, so of course our heroes Raquel and Tyson had to try on all them to make sure,” says Eck.

Speaking about the banned advert, the company’s director Graham Porter said, “The creative was also intended to run on free to air TV as a 30 sec ad, however CAD knocked it back asking for the removal of all sexual references.”
