The Matrix, Reservoir Dogs, The Hurt Locker, Zombieland and more…

There are certain attributes that any film must possess in order for it to gain instant classic status in our minds.

Fully-developed characters, a great script, or a talking monkey that performs karate; these are all tools that the best directors like Orson Wells and Martin Scorsese have used to great effect.

Trust us, there’s a deleted scene on the Citizen Kane DVD that features a classically-trained karate-loving monkey in space, taking on an actor that looks oddly like Chuck Norris.

Back in the realms of normality, however, there’s no denying that a brilliant slow-motion sequence, when used correctly, can also improve the cinematic credentials of most films.

The wonderful folk at CineFix have chosen some of their favourite slow-motion sequences of all time and this video is definitely worth watching for film fans. Each clip offers some really interesting explanations and anecdotes about how some of these iconic scenes were made, we especially love hearing about The Matrix and Reservoir Dogs.
