Not since Alex Ferguson left Manchester United to shamelessly plug his book and burn bridges with nearly all of his former players enjoy retirement, has my routine been thrown so much out of wack but that’s the new world of political satire that we’re living in ever since Jon Stewart left The Daily Show.
Of course, bullshit is still everywhere and we still need someone to cut through it while also making us laugh.
Step forward Trevor Noah and the South African comedian made a confident start with a cracking opening monologue that was equal parts a tribute to Stewart and an indication of the new direction that the show might be taking.
