British Pathé is now a newsreel archive but before television, people used to go to the cinema to watch the news and British Pathé used to be one of the leaders of cinematic journalism.
As a result, they’ve a huge archive of footage built up over the past century and now they’ve combined all their footage of the Irish Easter Rising, War of Independence and Civil War.
It’s fascinating to see all the videos of the conflict in Ireland 100 years later but there’s also some wonderful clips which really demonstrate the devastation in Ireland during that time.
It’s definitely worth a watch…
