The Vindicators are getting their own spin-off show

We’re assuming it will be a prequel, considering how their run-in with Rick & Morty ended…

During the third season of Rick & Morty, the duo get called by a very Guardians Of The Galaxy-esque group of do-gooders in order to help defeat a new big bad guy.

The Vindicators 3: The Return of World Ender featured an all-star voice cast as the heroes, including Gillian Jacobs as Supernova, Christian Slater as Vance Maximus, Lance Reddick as Alan Rails, Maurice LaMarche as Crocubot, and Tom Kenny as Million Ants.

Of course, after working with Rick and Morty during the episode, very few of these heroes were actually still standing by the end credits, but that isn’t stopping Adult Swim from announcing a new spin-off show that will focus entirely on The Vindicators.

Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener, the executive producers of the spin-off, had the following to say about the new show:

“We are thrilled to work in the Rick and Morty universe again, and these shorts are an incredible opportunity to explore what happens in the aftermath of the Vindicators saving (or destroying) world. We’re so excited to show how this team of superheroes is plenty dysfunctional whether Rick’s around to have half of them murdered or not.”

The Hollywood Reporter was told that it will be a one-off series, running from eight to ten episodes, and will be made available via the usual streaming platforms worldwide.

Meanwhile, fans of the main show can expect the fifth season of Rick & Morty later this year, which will debut on Adult Swim on Sunday, 20 June, and will likely be available on Netflix on this side of the Atlantic before too long.
