The Deceived

Great news.

Virgin Media revealed its new season schedule with one of the highlights being the psychological thriller series The Deceived, starring Paul Mescal and Emmett J Scanlan.

The series will launch in Ireland on Monday 7 September with two episodes airing back to back on Virgin Media One at 9pm.

The Deceived, which aired on Channel 5 this month, was created by Derry Girls creator Lisa McGeeand her husband Tobias Beer and tells the story of a young Cambridge student who falls in love with her Irish lecturer.

She follows him to Donegal, where a tragic and suspicious death takes place, and she starts to doubt everything she knew about him and her own mind.

Virgin TV customers will get to binge watch the entire series exclusively on Virgin TV on Demand from 7 September.

JOE spoke to Lisa McGee and Tobias Beer recently on The Big Reviewski and you can listen to that full interview below, otherwise you can skip to the 7.15 mark to hear some chat about The Deceived.

Speaking about the new season launch, Virgin Media Television’s Director of Content, Bill Malone said; “Virgin Media Television will continue with our audience first approach with a new schedule of high quality Irish programming with the best of drama, entertainment, news, current affairs and sport.

“With some 8 hours of home production each weekday, from 7am, when Ireland AM comes on air, to 11pm when The Tonight Show concludes, Irish programming remains at the very heart of what we do at Virgin Media Television.

“We remain committed to putting Irish drama on the map internationally with The Deceived, starring Emmet J Scanlan and Paul Mescal, being one of the centrepieces of our new season launch.

“It will air on Virgin Media One from Monday September 7th, with the full series available on Virgin Media On Demand. Also, a brand new drama set in Dublin, co-commissioned with ITV, has just been given the green light and will air next year.”
