Oasis fans will approve of the title.

There are certain songs and bands that are synonymous with particular shows. The Divine Comedy and Father Ted, The Rembrandts and Friends, Cat Stevens and Extras.

On this note, Irish viewers will always associate Steely Dan with the beloved magazine show, Reeling in the Years.

A stalwart of Irish TV, the programme is a beloved classic due to its simplicity – a quick recap of the key social, political, sporting and entertainment events that defined the year in Irish history.

Of course, we all know that things are about to get serious when the music stops.

Well, to mark 20 years of independent television in Ireland, Virgin Media One – formerly TV3 – will air a number of specially commissioned programmes including Don’t Look Back In Anger, a news archive series that will chronicle the news and events of the last 20 years.

Aside from this, the broadcaster will be airing two new shows. Channel Hop: The Story of TV3, will look back at the history of TV3 over the last two decades through the eyes of some of the stations best-loved faces. Elsewhere, Gogglebox Does TV3 will feature the famous Irish households giving their views on TV3 programming down through the years.

Don’t Look Back In Anger airs at 7.30pm on Thursday 20 September and the synopsis reads: “In a series of 20 half hours, we chronicle the news and highlights of the last 20 years in this archive and music-based series.”

To paraphrase the famous words of Noel Gallagher: “Slip inside the eye of your mind / Don’t you know you might find” a new TV show to watch.

Here’s a look at what’s in store.
