WATCH: Couple who met on First Dates Ireland become the show’s first fiancées

Ciara and Shannon, who won each other's hearts (as well as everyone else's), when they appeared on First Dates Ireland in early 2018, have some very exciting news. The pair bonded over their love of DJ Mark McCabe's hit Maniac 2000, shared some shots of Baby Guinness, and the differences between Ciara's native Monaghan and Shannon's home of Dublin. Ciara and Shannon were very well-liked by audiences on the evening their date came out, so anyone who remembers them will be delighted to learn that the two have just gotten engaged. Not only that, but footage of the special moment was sent in to RTÉ2, who uploaded it to Twitter and described it as "First Dates' first proposal." The emotional video shows Shannon — who is a cancer survivor — onstage at a family event, revealing that she had called Ciara's parents over Christmas to ask for permission.
