WATCH: Netflix’s new horror Nightflyers has a very strong vibe of Event Horizon and Alien

Paul Moore

Nightflyers

Filmed in Limerick and from the mind of George R. R. Martin.

With all eyes on Westeros this week, we’ll forgive you if you happened to forget that another of George R.R. Martin’s creations is coming to your TV very soon and it’s set to be even bloodier than The Red Wedding.

Oh yes, in space nobody can hear you scream but your housemate/partner can definitely hear you scream in the other room!

The first teasers set the mood but this one delivers the thrills, spills, and chills as it’s almost time to board Nightflyers.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Nightflyers follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tight knit crew and a reclusive captain — in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

Despite the fact that it’s set in space, there’s a strong Irish element to the production because the entire show was filmed in Troy Studios, Limerick.

The show is based on the novella by George R. R. Martin, who also serves as an executive producer on the project, and is produced by Universal Cable Productions and co-produced by Netflix.

Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation for television and is the showrunner and executive producer.

Take a look at what’s in store when Nightflyers lands on Netflix on 1 February.
