WATCH: Too Old To Die Young looks like Breaking Bad meets Drive

This could be the next big thing to watch once Game Of Thrones finishes this summer.

Writer and director Nicolas Winding Refn has got something of a… how do we put this nicely?… interesting CV.

Having got everyone’s attention with dark drug drama Pusher, he went huge thanks to the Tom Hardy-starring Bronson, before moving on to one of the most iconic movies of the 21st century, Drive.

From there, he reteamed with Ryan Gosling on ultraviolent crime thriller Only God Forgives, and his most recent outing was 2016’s comedy-tinged horror The Neon Demon.

Since then, he has been working with Ed Brubaker (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Westworld) on their new series Too Young To Die Young, for which Refn has directed all ten episodes.

The synopsis of the show tells us that “It explores the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles by following characters’ existential journeys from being killers to becoming samurais in the City of Angels”, which sounds like a mash-up of most of Refn’s movies to date!

In front of the camera, the eclectic cast features the likes of  Miles Teller (Whiplash), Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone), William Baldwin (Backdraft), Augusto Aguilera (The Predator), and Celestino Cornielle (Fast & Furious 8).

Behind the camera, Refn is working with his regular composed Cliff Martinez, and he’s got visual genius Darius Khondji (Se7en, Midnight In Paris, Panic Room) on board as the director of photography, so you know this show is going to spoil all of your senses.

Most likely while also scaring you silly.

Too Old To Die Young is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video from Friday 14 June.
