Eoghan Doherty

One of the most powerful Irish films in years…

After a Christmas filled with food, bursting with booze and absolutely stuffed with slathers of stuffing, we’re sure all you want to do today is sit back, relax and ease yourself gently into the first official work week of 2017.

Instead of endlessly flicking through the channels to see what you might randomly stumble across this evening, let us be your guide.

The superb Patrick’s Day has its Irish television premiere on RTÉ 2 at 9.30pm tonight.

The film, directed by Terry McMahon, tells the tale of a young Irish man dealing with mental health issues, while trying to find love in a life that other people want to control.

It features an absolute powerhouse of an award-winning performance from Waterford actor, Moe Dunford, and is one of the most impactful Irish films you’re likely to see.

It may not be an easy watch, but trust us, it’ll be worth it.

Here’s the terrific trailer to give you a taste of what’s to come…
