Wayne's World Light House cinema Dublin

Excellent.

Party on dudes and dudettes; Wayne’s World is coming back to the big screen.

The Light House cinema in Smithfield, Dublin will screen the classic 1992 comedy next Friday 9 November at 10.30pm.

At time of writing, just the one screening is scheduled so you’ll want to snap up tickets pretty quickly, which you can do at this here link.

If, somehow, you’ve managed to never see Wayne’s World in the 26 years following its release, here’s some background.

A spin-off of Saturday Night Live, it presents the story of two hapless but lovable rogues – Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) – and their wacky misadventures hosting a cult basement public-access TV show.

When said show attracts the interest of a nefarious television producer (Rob Lowe at his absolute smarmiest), the boys find that selling out isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

Here’s the trailer:

Would Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ be as entrenched in pop culture today without Wayne’s World and that car sequence?

Probably, it was a massive song well before 1992 but Mike Myers and friends certainly helped plug it back into the zeitgeist.

Wayne’s World remains both funny and relevant all these years on, so do yourself a favour and don’t miss out on this awesome Friday night opportunity.

That ticket link in case you missed it above is right here.
