British rapper Cadet dies in car crash on the way to a gig

British rapper Cadet, real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, was confirmed dead after a car crash while on the way to a gig at Keele University on Friday night (8 February).

The news was confirmed by his family, who posted the following statement on his Instagram page: “We the family of Blaine Cameron Johnson otherwise known as Cadet (Underrated Legend) would like to share the sad news that during the early hours of 9th February 2019 he passed away.”

Johnson was a passenger in the car and the only reported fatality in a crash that also saw both drivers brought to hospital with serious injuries. Three other people were also treated as a result, according to the BBC.

Cadet had been booked to perform at the Wireless festival later this year.
