The Boss has pulled no punches.

Bruce Springsteen has said that the US president Donald Trump  is "deeply damaged at his core" and "dangerous." In an interview with Esquire, the legendary musician also said that Trump "has no interest in uniting the country." To give these quotes some context, Springsteen was talking about the opening track to his 1980 album 'The River.' He said that the very first track on that album,The Ties That Bind, was about the “bonds of your personal family, but also the ties you can’t break among your community and your fellow citizens. You can’t forsake those things. It’ll rot your core at the end of the day. If you want to see someone who’s — look at Trump." The singer adds: "He (Trump) has forsaken a lot of these things, and it’s affected him. He’s deeply damaged at his core. ... Anyone in that position who doesn’t deeply feel those ties that bind is a dangerous man, and it’s very pitiful." Later on in the interview, Springsteen states that Trump "has no interest in uniting the country, really, and actually has an interest in doing the opposite and dividing us, which he does on an almost daily basis. So that’s simply a crime against humanity, as far as I’m concerned,” he added. “It’s an awful, awful message to send out into the world if you’re in that job and in that position." With regards to The Boss' political ties, the New Jersey icon previously played a surprise gig at The White House for Barack Obama and his staff. The Born to Run and Dancing in the Dark singer also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from the former president of the US. At the time, Obama hailed Springsteen's contribution to music and said that "through stories about ordinary people, to Vietnam veterans to steel workers, his songs capture the pain and the promise of the American experience. With his legendary E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen leaves everything on stage in epic, live, communal live performances that have rocked audiences for decades." Obama added: "With empathy and honesty, he holds up a mirror to who we are, as Americans chasing our dreams, and as human beings trying to do the right thing. There's a place for everyone in Bruce Springsteen's America." Fans of the singer are in for a treat this Christmas because Springsteen on Broadway will be available for Netflix viewers to watch from 16 December. He will also release an album from the award-winning show on 14 December.
