WATCH: Chris Martin grabs phone of Irish fan at Coldplay gig in Cardiff; shoots amazing on-stage footage

This footage, recorded by one Chris Martin, won’t be deleted in a hurry.

The thousands of people who witnessed Coldplay in the flesh at the weekend are probably still buzzing after what was, by all accounts, an amazing gig, but there were some fans of the band not lucky enough to make it to Croke Park.

Twins Maria and Alanna Murphy from Limerick were amongst the many who couldn’t get their hands on tickets, but they did manage to pick up a pair for the band’s show in Cardiff on Wednesday night.

As it turned out, they didn’t just manage to get tickets but managed to get pretty good ones as an associate of the band was able to grant them VIP access and a spot within spitting distance of the stage in the Millennium (Principality) Stadium.

If that wasn’t good enough, when the band made their way onto the stage, singer Chris Martin asked Maria to give him her phone and proceeded to record some amazing footage from the stage, including up close and personal shots of his fellow bandmates.

The twins’ (very jealous) sister Edel sent the footage our way and tells us the experience was well worth what was a pretty long trip for Maria and Alanna, who travelled via Dublin and Bristol to make it to Cardiff.

Between this and inviting a wheelchair-bound fan up on stage in Dublin on Saturday night, Coldplay have a habit of making their shows pretty damn memorable for fans and Chris Martin, it seems, is a pretty generous bloke too.

Safe to say that the twins will be proudly showing off this fairly crudely-recorded footage for years to come.

Cheers to Edel Murphy for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, or mail [email protected].
