Daniel O'Donnell Ireland's Got Talent

Yep, this is a thing.

Daniel O’Donnell is, in many ways, a true icon.

His career has been long, legendary and quite odd. A true people’s champion, the Donegal cult sensation really is one of a kind.

Recently, he’s made many a headline. Some of his highlights from last year include:

That time he broke a television ratings record following a mildly irked turn on Room to Improve.

Making a soap opera splash on Ros na Rún.

Performing for Pope Francis, who didn’t seem terribly impressed.

Having his celebrity status cruelly snubbed by Sky News following that very event.

Belting out ‘Happy Birthday’ to a surprised fan on a plane.

And crashing a wedding in order to make everyone’s day.

A gold mine of talent and unexpected situations.

Speaking of, he now has his very own tribute group, one with a combined age of 52.

Announcing themselves on Ireland’s Got Talent on Saturday night, The Wee Daniels made quite an impression.

Decked out in O’Donnell-approved attire, the Cavan five-piece – Finn Dolan (9), Robert Johnston (13), Jack O’Sullivan (12), Rian Sheridan (9) and David Rubotham (9) – paid tribute to the man.

Check it out below, and decide for yourself if this is wholesome fun or, in fact, the stuff of a fever dream nightmare.
