We didn’t see that coming.

Ed Sheeran has announced he will be playing the 3Arena this month as part of a mini UK and Ireland tour. The tour will launch the first single of his new album, Divide.

Tickets are €105.85 and will be on sale from Ticketmaster at 9am on Friday, March 10. There is a maximum of six tickets allowed per person.

The single has not yet been announced but Sheeran will also play a back catalogue of fan favourite songs during the show. The tour contains the only live dates the musician will be playing in 2023. Sheeran’s fifth album releases on May 5. It will be the last of his mathematical album series.

In a statement, the concert promotor said there is a strict stance on anyone using unofficial secondary ticketing sites for the shows to prevent the exploitation of fans.

“The shows on this tour will use specially developed mobile digital ticketing technology which have safeguards in place to ensure genuine fans are buying genuine tickets, and to stop unofficial secondary ticketing sites, and unofficial ticket sellers, from being able to resell tickets at inflated prices and rip off fans.”

New album announcement

While announcing his new album this week, the singer revealed that his wife, Cherry Seaborn, was diagnosed with a tumour while pregnant with their second child in 2022. There hasn’t been any update given on his wife’s health currently.

Within the space of a month, Sheeran also lost his friend Jamal Edwards, who passed away in February last year.

Sheeran said of his new album:

“As an artist I didn’t feel like I could credibly put a body of work into the world that didn’t accurately represent where I am and how I need to express myself at this point in my life. This album is purely that. It’s opening the trapdoor into my soul. For the first time I’m not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life.”
