This looks set to be a special night.

Ed Sheeran has picked Whelan’s in Dublin over any venue he’s ever played in for a special gig that will be broadcast live for VH1’s Storytellers.

According to Rolling Stone, Sheeran is said to have chosen Whelan’s as it was the venue where he watched Damien Rice perform more 10 years ago.

Ed says the gig completely changed his life: “It’s amazing to come back to perform at a place that means so much to me personally.

“I was only about 11 or 12 years old when I saw Damien play at Whelan’s and that night literally changed my life.

“The time he spent talking with me after the show made all the difference. It inspired me in a way that I only hope to do for someone else.”

That’s pretty cool, eh?

Whelan’s hold 400 people so tickets are going to be hard to get. The details on their availability haven’t been released, but it will take place on January 24th.
