The seminal trip-hop album is 20 years old plus a new album is on the way also…

Whenever JOE goes to see a band play we’re always happy to listen to a varied set-list that includes some new material mixed with the old favourites. However, in some rare cases we would be perfectly happy to see a band play one album in its entirety and ‘Dummy’ by Electric Picnic headliners Portishead is the perfect example.

The ’95 Mercury Prize-winning album is definitely one of the best releases of the 90s and, to mark the album’s 20th anniversary, the Bristol band have decided to reissue it on vinyl. The first 1000 copies of the reissue will be pressed on blue vinyl, with subsequent copies “reverting back to heavyweight black vinyl.”

The reissue doesn’t feature any additional material (it’s already perfect in our opinion) but it will come with new packaging and a digital download card. Pre-orders can be made from Portishead’s website and who knows, you may be able to buy a copy at Electric Picnic also.

Band member Adrian Utley has also revealed that the trio will soon be starting work on their fourth album. If you haven’t heard ‘Dummy’ before then we highly recommend picking up a copy.
