Gardaí issue advice to anyone travelling to the Justin Bieber concert on Wednesday

Alan Loughnane

Waterford

Take note…

Justin Bieber will play a sold-out concert in the RDS on Wednesday evening as part of his Purpose World Tour.

The Canadian singer sold out two dates at the 3Arena last November and apparently, became a big fan of O’Donoghues pub during his time here.

Understandably, the concert is going to be a huge affair for his Irish fans, and in expectation of this, Gardaí issued the following instructions for anyone attending the gig.

All patrons travelling to the RDS for the event are advised to utilise public transport as much as possible. The venue is serviced by bus, DART and Luas transport facilities.
There are a limited number of parking spaces for patrons who travel by road in the Simmonscourt Extension Car Park which is located on Simmonscourt Road. Patrons may also wish to avail of on-street parking where disk parking is in force.
Drivers should be aware that illegally or improperly parked vehicles have the potential to cause traffic disruption, obstruction and difficulty to emergency vehicles that may need to access the narrow residential streets that surround the RDS. Tow Wagons will be in operation during the event and offending vehicles will be removed.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS:

Garda No-Parking Cones will be placed at the following locations to prevent parking:

(a) Simmonscourt Road (both sides)
(b) Anglesea Road ( both sides from Merrion Road to No. 53 Anglesea Road and left-hand side only from there to Donnybrook Church.
(c) Merrion Road (between Simmonscourt Road and Anglesea Road)
(d) Sandymount Avenue (left side from Merrion Road to Level Crossing
(e) Ailesbury Drive (right side from Anglesea Road to Ailesbury Grove)
(f) Ailesbury Grove (left side from Ailesbury Drive to Ailesbury Road)
(g) Simmonscourt Avenue

Superintendent Gerry Delmar of Donnybrook Garda Station stresses that the most important consideration is that everyone gets in and out of the venue and the general area safely, and that everyone enjoys the event. An Garda Síochána would like to stress that all patrons should be aware of the colour coded entry routes to the venue which will be clearly identified on their tickets and will be strictly enforced. People should leave plenty of time to find their route and should park or approach the venue with these routes in mind. After the event everyone will also have to exit the venue by the route they came in.

Please be patient at the end of the event. Follow instructions from Gardaí and Stewards.
Patrons should arrive early to ensure that they can gain access in time for the event.
