A few months ago, having hit up Paris to see Metallica, this writer found himself stranded in Charles de Gaulle Airport for many hours following an unfortunate overbooking situation.
During a seemingly endless scroll of the phone, the news emerged that Girl Band, beloved Dublin purveyors of challenging, inventive and often cathartic noise, were mounting a comeback.
A belter by the name of ‘Shoulderblades’ followed, the first shot in anger from forthcoming sophomore record The Talkies, due for release on Friday 27 September.
For those unfamiliar; Girl Band stand as one of the country’s great musical powerhouses. They make music like few others, and pour every inch of themselves into it.
All of which brings us to ‘Going Norway’, and the closest thing you’re getting to a conventional A to B number from the foursome. Even then, it’s a barrage.
A stunning one.
