Lin-Manuel Miranda reveals the one scene from Hamilton that he felt cemented its greatness

Rudi Kinsella

Hamilton movie

An iconic moment in Broadway history.

Hamilton will ultimately go down as one of the best musicals of all time for a number of reasons.

It is already perceived by many as the best musical to grace the stage in years, and the creator and star of the show, Lin-Manuel Miranda, has done his best to explain which moment confirmed to him that the musical would be a hit.

The moment that decided it for him was when the character Angelica Schuyler performs the song ‘Satisfied’.

This scene follows Angelica as she comes to terms with the fact that she will never be with her soul mate, Alexander Hamilton, as he is about to marry her sister.

It’s heartbreaking, it’s beautiful, it’s realistic, and the song is incredible.

In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Miranda discussed why he felt this scene stood out above the rest:

“The first time I saw it, I was so overwhelmed.

“I mean, it’s still the number that every time I see it, regardless of where I am in my life or which company I’m seeing in the world, I am completely overwhelmed. It is so much bigger than all of us.”

This scene regularly leaves audiences in tears, while simultaneously keeping them on the edge of their seats.

And if you just can’t get enough of Lin-Manuel, you will be able to see him in the reboot of Mary Poppins, which will be released to Irish cinemas next month.
