No phones allowed: The newest item being banned from a gig in the 3Arena

It's been described as a "weird and welcome change."

It’s going to leave a lot of people upset.

How are your friends going to know that you were at the Chris Rock comedy gig if you don’t take a picture and post it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as updating your Snapchat story?

The no phone rule has been a regular ban at Chris Rock concerts and has been described as a weird and welcome change in an era where everyone wants to raise their mobiles in the air to capture the moment.

Rock is set to play Dublin’s 3Arena on September 30, but if you are planning to go see him live, you will need to lock up your phone and throw away the key.

We’re being serious.

If you bring your phone into the arena, you will have to place it in a Yondr Pouch for the entirety of the show.

What is a Yondr Pouch we hear you ask? It’s a case that you put your phone into which automatically locks when you close it.

It still allows phone signal to get through and people will be able to feel the phone vibrate when they receive a message or a phone call.

However, if you want to interact with your phone you need to bring the pouch outside and have it unlocked with its unique key and use of the phone is only permitted outside or in the lobby.

According to MCD, Rock “has urged his fans to embrace Yondr and to take one night off from being the Paparazzo of [their] own life. Chris Rock’s show will be a return to old school entertainment where the great memories of the night will remain in people’s minds and not on a cell phone.”

It’s almost unthinkable to not have your phone by your side but it’s just one of the sacrifices you will have to make if you want to go see Chris Rock.
