This is a powerful reimagining of the famous Christmas carol.

Irish filmmaker Norma Burke has released a music video in response to the latest national figures, which found that 3,333 children are currently homeless in Ireland.

Featuring a cover of the Christmas carol ‘O Holy Night’ performed by 23-year-old singer/songwriter Shane May, the video – made with the support of Near FM – stars actress Angel Hannigan and includes documentary footage of the Mobile Homeless Run charity as they served food on Grafton Street.

“This is a national disgrace”, Burke said commenting on the fact that over 3,300 children would be staying in private emergency accommodation on Christmas day, while the total number of homeless across the country has reached 8,857.

Norma Burke is a filmmaker and radio broadcaster, whose previous work includes short film Get Lucky, which screened at the London Film Festival and stars Ralf Little (Doctor Who), Isy Suttie (Peep Show) and Greg Davies (The Inbetweeners). She has also directed sketches for Republic of Telly and the viral hit Dublin Language Class by Foil, Arms and Hog. She is one of the co-presenters of the Arts Show on Near FM.
