An epic disco collaboration between two of Ireland’s most innovative.
Choice Music Prize-nominated producer, Cork native and diehard Prince fan Bantum is currently enjoying a musical purple patch.
As was the case with 2017’s superb Move album, the power and spirit of collaboration is once more out in force as Bantum re-teams with Irish/Sierra Leonean singer-songwriter Loah to conjure up a floor-filling summer banger.
Having released the contemplative and compelling ‘April Brave’ a few months back, the pair now kick things up several notches and tempos on ‘Summer of Love’, a track that lives up to its title, calling the likes of Róisín Murphy, DJ Koze, and Stardust classic ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ to mind.
“With ‘Summer of Love’ I came across a sound that really brought me back to my teenage years when I was just getting into electronic dance music,” says Bantum.
“The ‘French Touch’ influence is obvious and it’s a sound I’ve been listening to and loving ever since. Musically it’s a bit of a departure for me but it feels like home.”
One for your disco-themed playlists, for sure.
