JOE’s 5 go-to gigs in Ireland this week (Nov 21 – Nov 27)

Eric Lalor

The best of the live gigs around Ireland this week.

Who: Jess Glynne
Date: 22 November
Where: 3Arena, Dublin

One of the queens of pop right now, the red-haired lady from London has become one of the biggest names around. Everything she touches turns to gold and she is in Dublin at the 3Arena to show her Irish fans what all the fuss is about.

Who: The Coronas
Date: 23 November
Where: Seapooint Ballroom, Galway

The Coronas never fail to put on a great live show and this gig in Galway is billed as an intimate evening with the band. We reckon that means it’ll more likely be an acoustic gig of sorts and not so much that they’ll be cosying up to you in your seat whispering sweet nothings in your ear.

Although that’d be fine too.

Who: Luke Clerkin
Date: 23 November
Where: Workman’s Club, Dublin

Dublin singer/songwriter Luke Clerkin launches his debut EP, ‘Ink Written Messages’ at the Workman’s Club this Wednesday evening.

One of the new tracks is called ‘Home’ and features the vocal talents of Orlagh Kenny and it’s a song all about Dublin.

Who: Keywest
Date: 25 November
Where: Crane Lane Theatre, Cork

The lads who honed their sound busking on the streets of Dublin come to Cork for a night of feel good rock ‘n’ roll. Winner of the Hot Press award for Ireland’s Most Promising Artist in 2015, the lads always put on a brilliant live show and this shouldn’t be any different on the banks of the Lee.

Who: The Wedding Present
Date: 27 November
Where: Whelan’s, Dublin

The Wedding Present started out in Leeds way back in 1985. One of the all-time cult favourites amongst the indie-loving music public.

The line-up has changed so much over the years, but the lead singer, David Gedge remains the one constant in the band having been there since the start. This will be a brilliant gig. How many bands do you know who would name their debut album, George Best?
