JOE’s Song Of The Day #559: AE Mak – ‘Glow’

Eric Lalor

AE Mak

Another big year ahead for AE Mak.

Irish art-pop outfit AE Mak have announced their new single ‘Glow’. It marks the beginning of a very exciting and busy year ahead for the band.

They were flat out in 2017 and took some time out towards the end to refresh their artistic vision and unleash upon the world, their genre-defining pop.

2017 saw their distinctive style showcased to highly receptive audiences at their first headline shows, as well as supporting likeminded songstresses Warpaint in Dublin.

They were omnipresent at festivals both here and in the UK, featuring Liverpool Sound City, Other Voices, Electric Picnic, and Hard Working Class Heroes.

This is a new year and this is a new journey, of which the first step it this new release. Poised delicately in the space between light and dark the song presents itself as a showdown. Creeping synths linger like shadows around soaring melodies and deep bass pulses through its veins.

‘Glow’ is a statement, a shot from a new and promising cannon. It is the start of something electrifying. It’s dance music with a bite. Aoife McCann’s vocals have never sounded better and take you to the happy place.

It’s a cracker of a pop tune and deserves your full and immediate attention. Have a listen here and bend to its will.

Festival appearances aplenty ahead for the band as they will be performing at Latitude in the UK and Forbidden Fruit to name but two. If you do get a chance to see them, make it your business to.

The band are always announcing gigs and new releases and you can keep track of all of it, by checking out their Facebook page, right here.
