JOE’s Song Of The Day #799 – Ódú ‘The Feeling’

Eric Lalor

Ódú

More synth-pop goodness from Ódú.

Ódú is the stage persona of performer and songwriter Sally Ó Dúnlaing. The Bray native has always been a self-proclaimed singer and songwriter of pop music.

She’s a performer in full flight with a definite sense of direction and has an ear for an infectious melody. So much so that this is not the first time we have featured her work. She is a classy operator and we should be hearing a lot more about her in the coming years.

Set against swirling hooks and languid synths, Ódú finds herself in a more romantic state of mind as she tries to admit her true feelings.

“This song is about that incredibly strong desire to make a connection with someone but struggling to do so due to your own nerves and, at times, the uncontrollable external forces surrounding you both,” she said.

“It’s probably the most straight forward love song I’ve ever written but even then its still quite sad. I think we can all relate to that failure to connect and realising that maybe it will never happen.”

Ódú is currently working on her second EP due out later this year and you can keep tabs on all that via her Facebook page right here.
