Signed to a record label owned by former Oasis manager Alan McGee, who knows a good thing when he sees it.
'Feels So Real' is the first single for The Clockworks on the Creation23 record label, owned McGee, who has also managed Primal Scream, The Libertines and The Jesus & Mary Chain. He has a pretty decent track record, it's fair to say.
The four-piece all met in NUIG; three of them are Galwegians and the other is a Limerick native. The Clockworks are now based in London and this track is heavily influenced by that city feel.
Commenting on the track, frontman, James McGregor tells JOE: "The idea for this song was to soundtrack a certain feeling, a rapture or excitement, for the lyrics to set the scene and the music to set the feeling.
"This song is essentially about how all the things that make up the city; the good, the bad, and the ugly are all that make it exciting... In a way, it could be about finding hope in hopeless circumstances.”
It's a record full of promise and swagger. The video is stylishly produced and you can tell there is an investment in these lads.
And, from what we can hear, there's a good reason for that.
The Clockworks could well be the next big thing from an Irish music scene that is spewing out quality bands such as Fontaines D.C., The Murder Capital, Pillow Queens, Girl Band and Silverbacks amongst others at the moment.
A new chapter in the next Creation Story.
