Moxie weaving Arabic with Irish and the result is incredible.
Moxie, if you haven't heard of them, are an alternative folk band from the west of Ireland and have been on the go for the best part of the last decade.
The newest member of the group, Julia Spanu, brings her heritage into their brand new single and the world is a better place for it.
‘Is Ainm Dom’ innovatively combines both Irish and Arabic in the lyrics, and the music reflects a traditional Irish roar with a driving African percussive sound.
It is the first single to be taken from their upcoming album The Dawn of Motion, on the way later this summer.
Julia grew up in the historical city of Carthage, Tunisia, where she learned the Arabic language and immersed herself in Tunisian culture. She found her passion in music, song and dance, which led her to join Moxie when she moved to Ireland in 2016.
Her varied background and curiosity in folklore have opened up a new chapter in Moxie’s story.
The video is fantastic and the song is just brilliant. If there was any justice in the world, this would be a global smash hit.
