WATCH: Lewis Capaldi belts out ‘Someone You Loved’ on the Late Late

Irish charts

You probably know this one.

The love affair between Lewis Capaldi and Ireland shows no signs of abating any time soon.

The Scotsman has been a regular fixture here over the past year or so, stealing the show during Picture This’ five-night 3 Arena residency among other individual highlights.

Last night, he pitched up as part of the Late Late Show season premiere, and was in typically boisterous form throughout.

With the 22-year-old’s meteoric rise very much continuing, Capaldi felt fit to remind the nation of the song that spent so many weeks at the top of the charts this year.

“The song means sadness,” he told host Ryan Tubridy.

“I wrote the song about a lady that no longer thinks I’m attractive – that’s aesthetically and inside – she hates me as a person!

“I wrote it at the end of recording the album – at this stage I was just flogging a dead horse that’s full of heartbreak songs! – but I wrote it, it came out, and I made a lot of money from it!”

Check him out giving ‘Someone You Loved’ a whirl below.
