Metallica look set to rock Slane in 2019 as part of their worldwide tour

Metallica Slane

Great news for fans of the legendary rock band.

Iconic rock band Metallica are reported to be playing at next year’s Slane Castle concert.

The Irish Sun are reporting that the American heavy metal band will be headlining the historic Irish concert.

Following the announcement, a music industry insider told the Irish newspaper that: “Heavy rock has always been the biggest draw for Slane.

“Metallica are the perfect choice for 2019 as they go right back to the heavy rock of Thin Lizzy who headlined the very first Slane in 1981.”

No concert took place at Slane Castle in 2018, but as we reported back in February, it will be back next year.

There have been a number of years when there has been no major concert in Slane since 1981, so naturally, we’re very excited for it to return.

The concert is going to back to its roots with its decision to select Metallica as its headliner.

In the past it has played host to rock bands such as U2, Bon Jovi, and Thin Lizzy.

There are no confirmed dates as to when tickets will go on sale, but the concert is due to take place in the summer of next year.
