Huge news for the young band from Mullingar…
One of Ireland’s most exciting bands The Academic revealed some big news on their Facebook page last night, the youngsters have signed a worldwide publishing deal with Global Publishing so they’re about to be unleashed on the planet.
The teenagers first appeared on JOE’s radar when we heard their single ‘Bear Claws’ last year and we’ve been massive fans ever since. The quartet is made up of Craig Fitzgerald on lead vocals/guitar alongside Stephen Murtagh on bass, Matt Murtagh on lead guitar and Dean Gavin on drums.
They’ve had loads of really cool support slots with the likes of The Riptide Movement, The Strypes and Little Green Cars and they’ve a huge one this summer when they open for The Pixies at Live at the Marquee in Cork.
This news is massive though and they posted this picture on their Facebook page just after signing the deal with Global, who have the likes of Ellie Goulding, The Vaccines and Jungle on their books…
Exciting times, make sure you keep an eye and and ear out for The Academic, these guys are going to be a big deal.
