Tell us what you really think Noel…

The king of interviews Noel Gallagher has a new album, Chasing Yesterday , and an upcoming tour to shamelessly plug look forward to in the next few weeks so naturally he’s more than happy to talk to the media and dispense some of his unique ‘insights’ about the music world.

While the majority of Ireland seems to have fallen under Ed Sheeran’s musical charms, the Late, Late Toy Show moment and his upcoming gig in Whelans are testament to this, the former Oasis guitarist is completely baffled as to how Sheeran has managed to sell out three nights at Wembley this July.

Speaking with NME, the High Flying Birds frontman said about Sheeran’s sold-out dates , “”I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a f#*king guitar it seems subversive, but it’s f#*king not.”

Gallagher was in his unique, carefree and ranting best form as he then turned his attention to the indie scene at large and painted a bleak picture.

“It’s a strange time, and it seems like the whole thing is embedded for good now, for f#*king forever. It’s not all over, but it’ll go back to the way it was in the early ‘80s where indie bands are the alternative thing, the lower level. In the early ‘80s everyone at indie labels, even major labels, were trying to push this music to the fore because everything else was shit, and maybe it’ll happen again, but I don’t see it for the next decade.”

Some might say that the rock ‘n roll star is out of order and that he should stop crying his heart out to journalists but we think that he’s electric and sure whatever, just roll with it.

We hope that Noel gets more active on Twitter and replies to some of the inevitable angry tweets that are set to be sent his way from  Ed Sheeran fans. What a life that would be.
