Oasis’ big announcement wasn’t a reunion then…

The Gallagher brothers won't be taking to to the stage again but lots of unreleased stuff is on the way later this year.

JOE

The Gallagher brothers won’t be taking to to the stage again but lots of unreleased stuff is on the way later this year.

Scary and all as it seems, it is now 20 years since Definitely Maybe hit the shelves. Released in August 1994, the album instantly made Oasis the biggest band in the world and songs like Supersonic and Live Forever became anthems for anyone growing up in the 1990s.

Since then the band has been through a fair few members before eventually splitting for good in 2009 but a couple of cryptic posts on the band’s official Twitter and Facebook pages yesterday raised hopes that a reunion was in the offing.

Sadly, that isn’t going to happen but NME have confirmed that later this year a whole raft of new music will become available. A deluxe, re-mastered edition of Definitely Maybe will be released on 19 May as a CD and box set, complete with two discs of B-sides and rare tracks from the mid-90s.

Live acoustic versions of Live Forever and Shakermaker, demo tracks and more will be included, and that isn’t the end of the Chasing The Sun re-issues either.

(What’s The Story) Morning Glory? and Be Here Now will also get special re-releases later this year and on April 19 a limited edition re-mastered replica of their debut 12″ single Supersonic will come out on heavyweight vinyl, for the real hardcore collectors out there.
