The oriental adventure continues.
Ryan Sheridan will play our Sunday Sessions Live 2 gig at Whelan’s on October 22 (tickets here). The Monaghan man is currently on tour in China and he’s going to give us a tour diary during the trip.
Day 3.
“Over the weekend we did an in store signing in Xuzhou city centre. We drove through an old village on the outskirts on the way there and experienced real rural China.”
“In the city centre we went to another authentic Chinese restaurant where we learned more customs in eating real Chinese cuisine and the art of tea drinking China style.”
“We had our names written in Chinese and a painting that represents our band and travel in China. Then, karaoke happened. In China, karaoke is huge.”
“We didn’t know whether to laugh or hide when the old authentic Chinese man who taught us the art of tea drinking took out a microphone and broke into a Chinese pop song. Unbelievable moment…”
“It was time to leave Xuzhou and catch a flight to Guangzhou in the south. We boarded the plane and then found out that it was delayed two hours!”
“We sat on the plane and waited for what felt like forever. Eventually the plane departed. We were on the plane for a total of 6 hours and on top of that we landed in Guangzhou during Typhoon Mujigae.”
“Every day is as crazy as the day before. It has rained here for 3 days solid already and nobody bats an eyelid. They’re so used to it. But the best thing about this trip is that we get to experience China in a non-tourist way.”
“We get to experience the real China with our friends from Mayson Guitars.”
The lifestyle, weather, culture, tradition and food especially! Nicky from the band was a vegetarian a week ago, now he’s eating a chickens head. He’s a like a T-Rex on steroids.”
“It’s an eye opening experience to see and be part of a completely alien culture. Tomorrow we’re visiting the Mayson Guitar factory. We’re really looking forward to it.”
