One of the first drafts of ‘Born to Run’ is up for auction…

If this year has taught us anything, apart from the fact that a good summer puts everyone in good mood, it’s that Ireland loves Bruce Springsteen.

His mini tour of Ireland this year was a massive success and the warmth and affection that poured out for The Boss was clear from Kilkenny to Limerick to Belfast.

So we wouldn’t be at all surprised if there were more than a few Irish bidders for this bit of Springsteen history when it goes under the hammer in New York next month.

It is one of the first drafts of the classic ‘Born To Run’. According to a report on Phantom, The Boss usually has a few versions of a song on the go as he puts them together, and this one contains an almost complete chorus, but a lot of other changes.

Despite that, the 1974 document is estimated to go for somewhere in the region of $70-100,000 (€50-70,000) so if you plan on making someone’s day with this gift, you better have deep pockets by December 5, the date of the sale.
