Great news for music fans as this year’s festival already looks like a cracker…

Over the past 8 years, Castlepalooza Music And Arts Festival has developed a reputation for bringing together an eclectic mix of music, arts, food and craic to the wooded wonderland of Charleville Castle, and 2014 certainly aims to please all tastes with today’s first announcement of the festival line-up, one of its most exciting selection of acts yet.

Taking place at Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly from 1-3 August 2014, you’ll be able to attend Castlepalooza by purchasing a 3 Day Ticket (including camping), which is available for just €64 plus booking fee – a bargain considering some of the great names who have now been confirmed to attend.

Speaking of those great names, here is the official press release ahead of this year’s festival. The full line-up (so far) can be seen at the bottom of the article…

With the latest album release from GRUFF RHYS, ‘American Interior’, he is a must-see on this year’s festival circuit. As a record, ‘American Interior’ sits proudly next to his very best – the result of two decades honing a truly unique musical vision. If this is an outsider’s vision, long may Gruff Rhys continue to map out the peripheries.

DAN CROLL is a fabulous new solo artist with enough facets for a whole band. He’s the electro boy with links to the folk scene, a multi-instrumentalist whose songwriting prowess has impressed everyone from former Beatles to legends in the world of fashion and design.

WE CUT CORNERS release their highly anticipated second album ‘Think Nothing’, this Friday 25th April. Their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Today I Realised I Could Go Home Backwards’ was nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish album of the year. We Cut Corners have toured with Villagers, The Maccabees and Frightened Rabbit amongst others.

SUMMER CAMP is the follow up to their debut album ‘Welcome To Condale’, whose twelve tracks gave autumn 2011 a welcome shot of sunshine with its gorgeous collection of lushly melodic pop songs. Their latest album is an eleven-track marvel, a confident, fully realised body of work that befits the cliché ‘all killer, no filler’.

When all is said and done, whichever role GILLES PETERSON is performing – DJ, broadcaster, producer, compiler, label boss or plain old record collector – the music is always the bottom line. Starting off life as a club DJ, Gilles continues to spin regularly around the world. This year alone has seen him in Rio, Martinique, Tokyo, Havana and most parts of Europe as well as East London and this August in Charleville Castle, Tullamore!

ANDREW WEATHERALL’s history goes back far to the beginning of the British acid house scene, Djing at the legendary Shoom night to Djing with Primal Scream (a collaboration that continues into 2014).  Weatherall’s first studio work was on the club remix of Hallelujah for the Happy Mondays. Other remixes followed, notably ‘World in Motion’ for New Order, ‘Loaded’, a hit remix of Primal Scream’s earlier track ‘I’m Losing More Than I’ll Ever Have’, and the widely acclaimed ‘A Mix of Two Halves’ version of Saint Etienne’s “Only Love Can Break Your Heart’.

WE WERE EVERGREEN‘s world is a celebration of life’s messy magic; universal tales drawing on the power of images and mythology, entwined with richly textured songs.

FUNERAL SUITS are a four-piece from Ireland that need to be seen live. The music they make is expansive without being overblown, heavy without being menacing and all the more thrilling for its restraint.

Two prolific Irish independent musicians team up for a robotic interstellar synth-pop band called TVVINS. As a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, Conor Adams has received acclaim for his music with The Cast Of Cheers while Lar Kaye; a guitar and effects wizard has worked his magic with Adebisi Shank and No Spill Blood.

DMX Krew is an electronic music producer, who created Breakin’ Records. DMX Krew goes through many different styles, from electro-pop to the 80’s new wave and synth-pop.

Castlepalooza is delighted to welcome back arguably one of the finest and most respected DJ in the world today – NORMAN JAY. With the global rise in interest in UK deejay and dance culture, Jay has once again found his niche being extremely popular with a new generation of dance fans around the world. He regularly plays at a host of clubs, festivals and parties worldwide. Whether it’s playing upfront disco fuelled funky house in the nations main rooms and festivals or his much vaunted old skool jazzfunk, hip hop or chilled out beats in the back, he still manages to inject his rich musical heritage and quality in every set he plays.

ELIJAH AND SKILLIAM are 2 Grime DJs from East London. In 2006 they created the Butterz label, which received the likes of Terror Danjah, Swindle, Royal T, Trim, and P Money.

In addition Castlepalooza introduces Homebeat. This new product aims to champion Irish music and creativity by creating an experience that removes the walls of conformity and distance between artist and audience and indeed between audience and audience, while all the time promoting the ridiculous wealth of talent that exists on our doorsteps at this moment in time. Line up yet to be announced to play in the main room of Charleville Castle.

Castlepalooza 2014 also introduces a new area and one more reason to have the craic – SharkAshack. This stage will gather the crème de la crème of local DJs Ireland has to offer and Castlepalooza are teaming up with Bedlam, to give the festival goer a new set up in an intimate atmosphere where they will be able to spend the entire night with delicious beats and grooves. Expect your ears to be spoiled with the best of House, Deep House, Disco and Techno.
