The Pogues announce May 2025 headline tour

Ava Keady

It marks the band’s first tour in over a decade.

The Pogues have announced that they will be heading back on the road next year.

This comes following the band’s ‘Red Roses For Me’ anniversary show at Dublin’s 3Arena next month which includes a star-studded line-up of special guests including Tom Coll of Fontaines D.C., Goat Girl’s Holly Mullineaux, Alfie’s Fiachra Meek, and more.

This marks the bands first tour in over a decade and their first UK appearance since 2014 when they performed at London’s Hyde Park with The Libertines.

The tour will celebrate 40 years of the group’s album ‘Rum Sodomy & the Lash’.

The iconic 1985 album was named by the Rolling Stone amongst the Best 500 Albums of All Time.

Original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy are all set to reunite for the tour which kicks off on May 1 in Leeds.

The band are set to play ‘Rum Sodomy & the Lash’ in its entirety as well as b sides, extended version tracks, plus a special selection of their most beloved material.

The tour will make its way through Birmingham, London, Glasgow and Manchester before wrapping up in Newcastle on May 8.

Commenting on the announcement earlier this week, The Pogues said: ‘After the uproarious bash which was the 40th anniversary of our first record, Red Roses for Me, in 2024, we wanted to do it again, but with Rum Sodomy & the Lash.’

The band’s frontman, Shane MacGowan passed away last year at the age of 65.

Large crowds gathered in both Tipperary and Dublin to bid farewell to the singer, with a public funeral Mass taking place in St Mary’s of the Rosary Church in Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 22 from Ticketmaster.
