Whenever the Anfield faithful get tired of You’ll Never Walk Alone, here’s another ditty they can sing along to.

You may or may not have heard of Irish band Monster Monster before, but the people of Liverpool are going to be hearing a lot of them and their new song, Christmas in Liverpool, over the coming weeks.

It goes without saying that Christmas songs are ten a penny at this time of year, but such an impression has Monster Monster’s song made that it’s going to be played at Anfield and on BT Sport over the course of the next few weeks.

We’ll let guitarist and songwriter Mick Stuart take up story.

“Dear Joe, the best thing EVER happened!

“We contacted Liverpool FC with our Christmas song, Christmas In Liverpool, and they love it. They played it at Anfield on Saturday and plan playing over the Christmas games.

“I am a life-long Liverpool fan. Can you imagine? I only ever wanted to play for Liverpool above anything else in life. Hearing our song at Anfield is the nearest I will ever get. I feel like an 8-year-old again. This is definitely gonna be the best Christmas ever!”

Mick sent us in footage of the song being played at Anfield on Saturday, when a late Glen Johnson goal gave the Reds a much-needed victory over Stoke.

The song was also the subject of a feature in the Liverpool Echo and considering the time of year and its presence on the song list at Anfield, it’s going to get an awful lot of exposure around Merseyside over the coming weeks.

All the best with it folks.

Thanks to Mick Stuart for sending this our way
