Video: Well-known TG4 star gets stung badly by his friends’ cruel but hilarious phone prank

How the guy making the call managed to hold back the laughter here, we’ll never know. This is great.

How the guy making the call managed to hold back the laughter here, we’ll never know. This is great.

When you’re a well-known actor and DJ you can expect to be contacted by talent agents on a regular basis, but it does leave you susceptible to prank phone calls from friends pretending to be said talent agents and out for a good laugh at your expense.

Cárthach Bán Breathnach, son of the famous Seán Bán and star of Aifric and Ros na Rún on TG4, found that out the hard way not too long ago when an acquaintance called him up (with a few more acquantances also present) pretending to be inquiring about an audition he had participated in in Dublin for a new boy band under the management of Louis Walsh.

We’ll let the video speak for itself below but basically, the lads stung Carthach, or Carty Bán, by telling him that he had seriously impressed in his original audition and to sing a Westlife song over the phone in an effort to prove that he had what it takes to make it big in pop music.

Carty Bán, we feel for you, honestly we do, but this is brilliant.

Hat-tip to Alan McCarrick and Eoin O’Brien for sending this one our way and thanks to Carty Bán for being a good sport and agreeing to let us post it today.
