WATCH: 9-year-old brings Leinster House to tears with his song

Rory Cashin

Finbar

‘There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.’

Christmas always brings out the emotions in everyone, as anyone who has checked out any of the Christmas adverts this year will be able to tell you.

However, if you take Christmas time, add in a young lad singing a heartbreaking version of an already heartbreaking song, you won’t be able to fight back the tears!

Sean Kelly sent us in the footage, and gave us the full backstory for the performance:

“This video was taken last night in the Member’s Restaurant of Leinster House. The Ceann Comhairle, Sean O Fearghail TD, was hosting a Christmas night in aid of Trocaire.

“Finbar Furey was performing along with The Wrafter Family Band from Kilbeggan. In the video attached, nine-year-old Thomas Wrafter and Finbar duet to sing ‘I Remember You Singing This Song Ma’. Safe to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.”

The Wrafter Family Band, from Westmeath, consist of dad Peter, mum Noreen, and children Conor, Thomas, and Aimee, and you might recognise them from their performance of their debut single, ‘The Blarney Stone’, on The Late Late Show on St. Patrick’s Day of 2017.

Since their Late Late Show appearance, they’ve gone on to open for entertainers of international renown such as Nathan Carter, Johnny McEvoy, The High Kings, and The Three Tenors.

Check out their full performance here:
