3:10 to Yuma, the 2007 Western remake from director James Mangold (Cop Land, Ford v Ferrari, Logan), is airing on TV tonight (Wednesday, 11 February).
Based on a short story by legendary writer Elmore Leonard (Get Shorty, Out of Sight), the film revolves around outlaw Ben Wade (Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, The Pope's Exorcist), who terrorises 1800s Arizona until he is finally captured.
Wade must be brought to trial, so Dan Evans (Oscar-winner Christian Bale, The Big Short), the owner of a drought-stricken ranch, volunteers to escort him to the titular train.
"Along the trail, a grudging respect forms between the men, but danger looms at every turn, and the criminal's men are in pursuit," the plot synopsis adds.
The cast of 3:10 to Yuma also includes Alan Tudyk (Dodgeball), Ben Foster (Christy), Gretchen Mol (Rounders), Luke Wilson (Horizon), Peter Fonda (Easy Rider) and Vinessa Shaw (Eyes Wide Shut).
Praised for its performances and for blending some of the timeless iconography and themes of the classic Western with more modern pacing, the 2007 adaptation to Elmore's story is widely considered to be on par with the original 1957 movie version, if not better.
Holding an 89% critics' score and 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, 3:10 to Yuma is airing on TV tonight on Film4 at 11.10pm.
It's also available to rent on Apple TV, Prime Video, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.
