The latest Covid figures have been released.

39 additional Covid-19 deaths have been reported, as well as 462 new cases.

This brings the Covid-19 death toll in the Republic of Ireland to 4,396 and the total number of confirmed cases to 221,649.

As of this afternoon, there are 460 patients in hospital with Covid, with 107 of them in the ICU.

207 of today’s cases are in Dublin, 29 are in Cork, 26 are in Meath, 20 are in Kildare, 18 in Galway and the remaining 162 cases are spread across all other counties.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn said: “We have been made aware of four preliminary reports of stillbirths potentially associated with a condition called Covid Placentitis. These reports should be interpreted with caution as the coroners have not yet concluded their findings.”

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly told the Dáil today that he remains “concerned” about AstraZeneca’s ability to deliver vaccine supplies on schedule and at the agreed volumes.

Earlier on Thursday, the Department of Health in Northern Ireland reported that a further 63 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, three further deaths were also reported up north.
