Gardaí investigating after two-year-old girl dies in Cork

A two-year-old infant girl was pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital on Friday morning.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street in Cork are currently investigating all the circumstances of the death of a two-year-old infant that took place on Friday morning.

Gardaí were called to an apartment on Boreenamanna Road in Cork City at approximately 5.18am on Friday.

The infant girl was removed with serious injuries to Cork University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

An incident room has been established at Anglesea Street Garda Station.

A technical examination of the apartment will be carried by Crime Scene Examiners from Cork City.

The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem is being arranged.

The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

No arrests have been made at this time.

A two-year-old girl has been rushed to hospital in Cork after she was found with serious injuries.

Speaking to JOE, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that “Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to an incident at a premises in the Boreenmanna Road area of Ballinlough, Cork City.” Gardaí made the call-out at 5.30am on Friday morning (5 June).

A house on the Boreenmanna Road has since been sealed off, and a technical examination is scheduled.

The girl has been brought to Cork University Hospital, where it is believed that she is in critical condition. The nature of the injuries have not been made public.

Gardaí have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing. At the time of writing, no arrests have been made.
