A 79-year-old woman from Dublin named Annie is set to be the first person in the Republic of Ireland to get the Covid-19 vaccine later today. Today, December 29, the state will begin vaccinating in four hospitals- Beaumont and St James's hospitals in Dublin, Cork University Hospital, and University Hospital Galway. It is the beginning of a complex process, the beginning of the end of an awful period,” he told RTÉ radio. He added that Annie is "delighted" and feels "very privileged" to be receiving the vaccine. MacCraith also said that his team would be looking at the month of August "to being very close, or at the point of closing out the actual vaccination of as much of the population of Ireland that wants to receive vaccines."
