A man has died after getting into difficulty while swimming off the coast of Clare.
The incident occurred shortly after 10.20 on Saturday morning, at West End Kilkee.
The man was believed to be in his ’70s.
The local unit of the Coast Guard responded, along with Gardaí, Clare County Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Kilkee, and National Ambulance Service paramedics.
The man was taken by air ambulance to Limerick University Hospital where he was pronounced dead
A file will be prepared for the Coroner’s court.
