Planning on travelling abroad this weekend?

Though the national weather warnings have been officially downgraded, many people have seen their travel plans disrupted due to Storm Emma.

Flight operations have resumed for the most part, though delays and cancellations are still to be expected.

Aer Lingus is extending free changes to those who are scheduled to travel on Sunday 4 March.

Customers booked to travel on this date who wish to postpone their travel to within seven days of their original travel date can do so free of charge on the Aer Lingus website.

Ryanair, meanwhile, urges its customers to check the status of their flight at ryanair.com before attempting to journey to the airport.

The airline anticipates further disruptions throughout Saturday, and has already cancelled a number of flights.

Ryanair’s statement in full reads:

“While Ryanair has returned to operations at all Irish airports on Saturday 3 March, we recommend customers check the status of their flight at Ryanair.com before making their way to the airport.

“Due to the continued severe weather, Ryanair expects some further disruptions throughout the day, Saturday 3 March, and has already cancelled a number of flights to/from Dublin airport, giving customers as much advance notice as possible.  All affected customers have already been notified of their options by email and SMS text message and should avoid traveling to the airport.

“We are doing everything we can to re-accommodate affected customers and minimise disruption to their travel plans and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by these disruptions which are entirely outside of our control.”
