The crimes are said to have happened up and down the country’s Gold Coast.

Australian police have ramped up their search for nine Irish tourists who are alleged to have taken part in a series of scams and thefts.

According to local news agency 9 News, who have posted several images of the men and women who are among the nine people wanted by police, twelve offences have been reported to police in the Brisbane and Gold Coasts areas since January.

The women in the group reportedly distract shop keepers while their children steal items from the stores.

Meanwhile, the men in the group are alleged to have been scamming food, by claiming to several different restaurants that their food had hair or glass in their meals.

Police have released CCTV footage and images to the public in the area, with Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming stating that “These are serious allegations and we’d very much like to hear their side of the story.”

If the group are caught and found guilty, they will most likely be immediately deported from Australia.

This news comes just a few months after a series of roofing scams in the same part of the country led to an Australian Minister to announce that people in the area should not “answer the door to anyone with an Irish accent”.
