Homenews

Frequent Luas passengers will have to find another way of getting around.

Luas customers have been informed that services will not run on the red or green lines tomorrow or Friday due to strike action. Luas operators Transdev have confirmed that strike action will go ahead this Thursday and Friday (February 11 and 12) and next Thursday and Friday (February 18 and 19) and have advised customers to seek alternative methods of transport on those dates. https://twitter.com/Luas/status/697316891090644992?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet Up to 90,000 passengers are expected to be affected by a strike taken by Luas staff belonging to SIPTU, who have been seeking pay rises of up to 53%. Work-to-rule action by employees involved in the strike commenced last Saturday after talks at the Workplace Relations Commission aimed at averting strike action broke down. Luas staff want parity in salary with Irish rail drivers, but Transdev say that the cost of implementing such pay rises would be unsustainable and there is currently no sign of a resolution. Transdev have provided information on alternative travel and refund arrangements, which you can read in more detail here.
